DESCRIPTION
White fillings are produced either from composite (direct) or porcelain / ceramic (indirect).
Direct: The dentist will anaesthetise the tooth. The tooth will be prepared and cleaned and the white filling is placed in the 'increments' and cured (set) with a blue light. The composite is then carved into the replica of a natural tooth.
Indirect: The tooth is prepared and an impression or pictorial (scan) is taken of the tooth. The filling or inlay is provided either in a lab or at chair side that accurately fits the hole in the tooth. It is then cemented and polished.
